In this gentle Christian sleep story, you'll journey alongside Christ and His disciples as they ascend the mountain where the veil between heaven and earth seems to grow thin. Inspired by the biblical account of the Transfiguration, this story invites you to imagine the peace of resting in the presence of Jesus—the place where God's Kingdom is most fully known.
With slow narration, calming imagery, and a focus on Christ's nearness, this episode is designed to help settle a busy mind and prepare your heart for rest.
Whether you listen all the way to the end or drift off somewhere along the path, my hope is simple: that you'll fall asleep with a little bit of holy on your mind.

Matthew 17:1–8

Scattered Moments is a podcast of quiet reflections, guided meditations, and sleep stories designed to help you rest in the presence of God.
Hey friends. Just to know before we begin, I just want to thank you so much for listening and for sharing this podcast. I've been amazed and overwhelmed with the places and the people that I've met so far on this journey. And yes, this is another sleep story. And just if you're curious, before we begin, a quick word about these sleep stories. If you've never listened to one before, a sleep story is simply a gentle story designed to help you quiet your busy mind and ease into rest. It's not for everyone. Some people fall asleep at the moment their head touches the pillow. And if that's you, well then God bless you. You probably don't need this. But if your mind tends to keep turning after the lights go out, if tomorrow keeps going up before today is finished, if worries and responsibilities and well unfinished conversations have a way of following you into bed, then perhaps this will help. Tonight in this space, there's nothing you need to accomplish, nothing you need to remember, nothing you need to solve. You don't even need to stay awake for the entire story. In fact, if you drift off to sleep, well then the story's done exactly what it was meant to do. And my hope is simply that when you fall asleep, you'll have a little bit of holy on your mind, a little scripture, a little beauty, a little imagination, a little reminder that Christ is near. So find a comfortable position and take a slow breath and let us make our way up to the mountain. Tonight I invite you to leave behind the noise of the day. There is nothing you need to accomplish, nothing you need to solve. No burden you need to carry for the next little while. Allow your breathing to become slow and easy. A gentle breath in. A gentle breath out. Again, slowly in, slowly out. As you rest, imagine yourself walking along a quiet path in the fading light of evening. The sun has begun its slow descent behind the hills. The air is cool. The sounds of the day are growing distant. Ahead of you walks Jesus. His pace is unhurried. He does not rush. He never seems to rush. The path rises gently toward a mountain. And somehow you know you have been invited. Not because you've earned it. Not because you deserve it. But simply because he wants you near. You follow him, step after step. The earth is firm beneath your feet. The breeze moves slowly through the grass. The scent of wildflowers drifts through the evening air. And Jesus continues ahead, never far away. The climb is not difficult, not tonight. Tonight every step seems lighter. Every burden seems smaller. Every anxious thought seems farther away. The mountain rises before you. Stars begin to appear one by one. The air is still holy. Quiet. He turns towards you. There is kindness in his eyes. The same kindness that welcomed fishermen. The same kindness that embraced children. The same kindness that restored failures and forgave sinners. He smiles. And somehow that smile settles every fear. You sit nearby. The mountain is silent. The world below it seems so far away. And for a moment nothing happens at all. Only stillness. Only rest. Only being with him. And then very gently, something begins to change. Not suddenly. Not frighteningly. Not like a storm. It is more like the first light of dawn. A veil slowly lifting. A curtain gently opening. You look at Jesus. And it is as though you are seeing him more clearly than ever before. Not a different Jesus. The same Jesus. The one who walked beside you on the path. The one who welcomed you up the mountain. The one who knows you by your name. Yet now his glory shines through. The beauty that was always there becomes visible. The love that has always surrounded you becomes unmistakable. The King is revealed. And still his eyes are kind. Still his presence is gentle. Still, he welcomes you near. You do not feel afraid. You feel at home. The mountain glows with quiet radiance. The darkness has not disappeared, but neither does it matter. Because Christ is here. And where Christ is, there is light. Where Christ is, there is peace. Where Christ is, there is rest. As you sit there, you become aware that you are not alone. Others are present. Faithful servants from long ago. Saints whose stories have echoed through generations. Those who walked with God before your own lifetime began. And yet there is no distance between them. No separation. No striving. No competition. Only fellowship. Only joy. And it occurs to you that this is what the kingdom of God has always been. Not merely a place. Not merely a reward. Not merely streets of gold or gates of pearl. The kingdom is life with the king. The kingdom is being where he is. The kingdom is enjoying his presence forever. You sit quietly with that thought. Life with the King. Nothing more is needed. Nothing could be better. And as you rest there, another realization gently settles into your heart. One day, this fellowship will be yours completely. One day every shadow will disappear. Every wound will be healed. Every tear will be wiped away. One day you will stand among the redeemed, not as a stranger, not as a visitor, not as someone barely welcomed inside, but as a beloved child. Expected.
unknownKnown, wanted, loved.
SPEAKER_00The mountain becomes quieter still. The stars shine overhead. The breeze softly blows through the grass. And Jesus remains beside you. There is no need to speak. No need to explain. No need to impress him. He already knows everything about you. And he has invited you here anyway. You rest in that truth. You are known. You are loved. You are welcomed. You are safe. The mountain is still. The night is peaceful. And Christ is near. Take another slow breath. And another.
unknownAnd another.
SPEAKER_00Allow your thoughts to become lighter. Allow your body to relax. Allow the concerns of tomorrow to drift away like clouds moving across the night sky. Remain here on the mountain. Remain near the Savior. Remain in his presence. For the kingdom is found. Wherever the king is. And tonight he is near. Very near. Rest now. The mountain is quiet. The stars are watching overhead. The king is beside you. And all is well.
unknownRest.
SPEAKER_00Rest. Rest.
