This Is Our Creed

This Is Our Creed

Creed is an original song inspired by the Nicene Creed, the historic confession of Christian faith first formulated at the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325 and carried by generations of believers ever since.

The song follows the great movement of the Creed: faith in God the Father, Maker of heaven and earth; Jesus Christ, the eternal Son who became flesh for our salvation, was crucified, rose again, ascended, and will return; the Holy Spirit, Lord and Giver of Life; the Church; the resurrection of the dead; and the life of the world to come.

At its heart is a simple chorus:

This is our creed,
The foremost one we share,
Enduring generations,
Its truth eternal we declare.

This song is offered as both a reflection and a confession—a reminder that the Christian faith did not begin with us and will not end with us. We join our voices with believers across centuries, cultures, languages, and nations to proclaim:

One God. One Savior. One Lord. One Christ. One Church. Grace and everlasting life.

We believe in God the Father, the Almighty Lord, maker of the earth and heaven, things unseen, and the things we saw. From his hand came all creation, every ocean, star, and sea. Through the ages, still his people stand together in this creed.

This is our creed, the foremost one we share, enduring generations. It's truth eternal. We declare one God, one Savior, one Lord, one Christ, one church enduring grace and everlasting. God eternal, three in one, God from God and light from light, true God, from true God, still begotten and not created, one in being one in will. This is our creed, the foremost one we share, enduring generations. One God, one Savior, one Lord, one Christ, one church enjoying grace and everlasting love, rusting for our salvation, he descended from above by the spirit born of Mary, God made flesh in perfect love. Under Pilate crucified, he suffered, died, was laid. Then, according to the scriptures, on the third day, Jesus rains, He ascended into heaven. At the Father's side, he reigns, He will come again in glory, and his kingdom shall remain. Every nation, every name, and the kingdom of our Savior has no ending to his direct. This is our creed, the foremost one we share, enduring generations, it's truth eternal. We declare one God, one Savior, one Lord, one Christ, one church enduring grace and everlasting. With the Father and the Son, worshiped, glorified. He is spoken through the prophets, still the ancient witness rings, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, everlasting God and King. We believe one holy church, a people called by grace, one baptism, sins forgiven, one redeemed and gathered race. We await resurrection when death itself is overcome, and the life of worlds eternal, and the kingdom yet to come. Enduring generations, it's truth eternal. We declare one God, one Savior, one Lord, one Christ, one church, enduring grace and everlasting life. We believe, we believe, we believe one God, one God, one faith, one church. We believe in the life of the world to come. Amen.
