Ordinary Blessings — Scattered Moments

We don’t struggle to thank God for the big things…
but the quiet gifts often go unnoticed.

In this episode, we reflect on the everyday mercies we walk past—
food, water, rest, friendship…
and even the difficult moments we’re quick to resist.

this reflection invites you to slow down and notice the grace already surrounding you.

Even here.
Even now.

Take care, notice the scattered moments, and share the grace.

Welcome to Scattered Moments. These are quiet reflections on faith and the quiet places where grace appears. Today we're talking about something easy to overlook: ordinary blessings. We don't struggle to thank God for the big things, the answered prayer, the healing, the breakthroughs, but the quiet gifts. We walk right past them. The glass of water. The cheer we collapse into at the end of a long day. An old friend who reaches out at just the right time. A meal we didn't have to hunt or gather or fight for. We don't reject them. We just don't notice them. And sometimes, if we're honest, we complain about the very things we once prayed for. There's a simple command tucked into the everyday life of faith. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5.18. Not some circumstances, all circumstances, even the ones we don't understand, even the ones we would never choose. There was a man who learned this well, Brother Lawrence. He worked in the kitchen, washing dishes, preparing meals, nothing wrong. And yet, he said, We ought not be wary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love. He found God not in a cathedral alone, but in the clatter of pots and pans. Maybe the holiest moments in your life today won't look holy at all. They'll look like, well, a quiet breakfast, a deep breath between meetings, a moment of rest that you almost rushed past, a difficult conversation that softens something in you. Even the hard things carry a strange grace, not because they feel good, but because God refuses to waste them. In the wanderlust of eternity I travel streets of grace. I know the power of illusion, but I find truth upon your face, the brokenness, the weakened bones and feeble flesh, but still I trust the musician's strings, the one who makes the nations sing. You are good, it's understood, and the days lead on today, so I trust in you. I long for bliss. I send resounding praise. You have always, in every single moment of my life, placed your hand upon me, and I could not escape it. Not the love, not the joy, even the dark hours, the crooked roads. You hem me in with mercy. You have laid my sorrows on the banks of glory, and your glory outshines them all. Even in chaos, you speak. A steady, sensible, soft voice, like a faithful father, your hand on my shoulder. I will be guided and kept. Maybe that's what ordinary things really are, not small things, but constant reminders that you are not alone, that God is nearer than your next breath, closer than your next thought, present in the unnoticed. Ordinary blessings. That's today's scattered moment. Take care. Notice the scattered moments and share the grace.
