A Guided Meditation on Book of Exodus 33:14

So many of our anxieties live in the future.

The “what ifs”… the worst-case scenarios… the quiet fears we carry from one moment into the next.

But God’s promise speaks directly into that tension:
“My presence will go before you… and I will give you rest.”

In this guided meditation, you are invited to step away from the noise of tomorrow and return to the gift of this moment—where His presence already is.

Through a simple but powerful exercise, you’ll learn to place your worries into an “infinite box”… setting them aside, not in denial, but in trust.

This is a space to breathe…
to release…
and to rest in the assurance that the God who goes before you is also with you now.

🌊 How to Experience This Meditation

For the best experience:

  • Find a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted
    (a chair, a porch, a parked car—simple is fine)
  • Use headphones if possible to fully enter the moment
  • Sit comfortably with your hands open or resting gently
  • Resist the urge to multitask
(this isn’t background audio—it’s a moment of presence)
  • Follow the prompts slowly, especially the “box” exercise
Let your mind actually name and release what you’re carrying
  • If your thoughts wander… that’s okay
Just gently return to the voice and the promise

Welcome to Scattered Moments. Whether you're starting your day out or you're winding down, this is a guided reflection on presence and rest and the quiet assurance that you are not alone. Today we listen to a promise. My presence will go before you, and I will give you rest. Let that settle over you. Not something you must earn. Not something you must chase. A promise. Take a slow breath in and gently release it. Again, breathe in and let it go. You don't need to solve anything right now. You don't need to figure out tomorrow. Just be here. So often we look toward the future and feel a quiet dread. What if this happens? What if that falls apart? And even in the present moment, we can miss the gift right in front of us. Because our minds are somewhere else. But listen again to the promise. His presence goes before you, and he is with you now. The rest he gives is not only waiting for you in the future, it is available in this moment. Now in your mind, imagine a box in front of you. A box with no bottom, deep, endless, able to hold everything. Now begin to place your worries into that box. Your health, your finances, your family. The what-ifs, the worst-case scenarios. Even the small things, the things that clutter your thoughts. Place them one by one into the box. Take your time. Now gently place a lid on that box. You're not ignoring these things. You're not denying them. You are simply setting them aside for this moment. Right now, you are here. And he is here. The God who goes before you is also present with you. There is nothing in your future that will arrive without him already there. So rest. Not because everything is resolved. But because you are not alone. Right now, rest in his presence. Here. Now stay here as long as you need. And when you're ready, carry this with you. His presence goes before you and he will give you rest.
